The Re-emergence of the Goddess

The Re-emergence of the Goddess

After the slow demise of the hunter-gatherer pattern of life the small village, agricultural system of human organization gained dominance.  It was evident that food, and thus life sustaining forces came from the earth.  Women and children were less likely to starve to death when there was a surplus of products such as grains from the earth.

The species survival was promoted by the advent of agriculture.  At the same time there also emerged the goddesses.  The Goddess was the dominant religious figure.

At approximately 2,000 years ago the male god forms took supremacy.  The Christian Gods were all masculine (with the exception of the feminine use in referencing the Holy Spirit in Orthodox faiths).  The masculine dominance continued well into the middle of the 20th century when Pope Pius XII announced the Dogma of the Virgin Mary.  She had never died but had been “Assumed” directly into heaven.

It would seem that event presaged the clear emergence of the feminine in the last 50 years of the 20th century.  The 1960’s musical “The Age of Aquarius” is in accord with those who believe in Aeons.  The current Aeon, of Pisces, is to end around the year 2,000.  The Piscean Aeon is symbolized by two fish facing each other.  The interpretation is that the Piscean Aeon is “head to head” masculine conflict.  The Aquarian Aeon which is to supplant the Piscean is feminine dominant and is said to last for another 2,000 years. The symbolism is that of the feminine water bearer and is presumed to be associated with peace and love.
