Documents Regarding the Kostrubala's
This is a letter written to my grandmother Antoinette Herrick by John
Herrick in 1903. I have no idea who wrote the translation
Herrick in 1903. I have no idea who wrote the translation
of the letter... Evidently it is a love letter from John to his wife.
Note the date of 1903. I do not know if she had already had that
detestation, typhoid fever. At the time Chicago sewage was poured into
Lake Michigan and physicians warned for many years that the epidemics
of typhoid fever was due to that policy. The issues, of course, were
political.
Having been Director of Mental Health for Chicago I can readily
understand how my grandmother was grievously harmed and many others
were killed simply due to political processes.

This document shows that my father got his BS Degree in 1932. That is
how I happened to bear such a non Slavic middle name. I was born on
the day he styarted the lewis Institute and inaugurated, for him, his
drive to become an MD. I knew this story since I was a child but only
came across this Diploma as Teresa went through files while we waited
out Tropical Storm Fay. He did finisah Northwestern Medical school in
1936.
During the time he went to the lewis institute he comstinued his
practice as a Dentist at 51st and ashland Avenue. The three of us
lived in the narrow apartment behind the dental office.
